Civil society group wants inclusion of non-state actors in policies implementation

The Association for Public Policy Analysis (APPA)a civil society organisation has called on government at all levels to include non-state actors in the implementation of policies that affect Nigerians. Mr Princewill Okorie, National President of APPA made the call at the 2023 Public Policy Performance\ Award/Investiture Ceremony in Abuja on Friday. Ondo Assembly Confirms Receiving Akeredolu’s Letter Transferring Power To Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo House of Assembly has confirmed receipt of a letter from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu requesting to proceed on medical leave in Germany. Olamide Oladiji, the parliament speaker, said this in a statement. Mr Oladiji explained that the governor’s action was in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). According to the speaker, Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will act as the governor. He said the letter stipulated that the leave would commence on December 13. Mr Oladiji expressed optimism that the governor would soon resume his duties. Mr Akeredolu had, in July, similarly written to the legislative to request medical leave and returned to the country on September 7. NAN

A 200-level student of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ibadan has been apprehended by the institution’s security personnel for allegedly raping a 100-level colleague. The victim had gone for a night reading alongside other girls to prepare for exams. Yoruba poet, Olanrewaju Adepoju, dies at 83

A popular Yoruba poet, writer, artiste and religious leader, Alhaji Olanrewaju Adepoju, is dead. Adepoju died on Sunday at his Idi Orogbo off Ring Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State residence around 7 pm. A special offences court in Ikeja, Lagos, has arraigned a businessman, Olaoluwa Oluwamide, and his company, Ayomi Triumph Energy Ltd., for allegedly defrauding Sterling Bank Plc of $39,554. Mr Oluwamide and his company are facing a count charge bordering on converting an erroneous transfer, preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
