2024 Budget: Reps Seek More Funding For Transportation, Health, Education

The House of Representatives continued its debate on the 2024 appropriation bill, with some lawmakers demanding increased funding for transportation, health, and education. Nigeria Recording Progress In HIV/AIDS Response, Says Minister

The federal government says Nigeria has made huge progress in the HIV/AIDS response and is on the way to ending the disease by 2030. The Minister of State for Health, Tunji Alausa, disclosed this during a media conference on Thursday to mark the 2023 World AIDS Day with the theme, “Let Communities Lead”. Mr Alausa also unveiled some national HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) policy documents meant to strengthen the existing framework for action to reduce the spread of the diseases and manage their impact. The Benue State Police Command said it arrested 20 suspected criminals in the state. The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, said this in a statement on Wednesday in Makurdi, Benue. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned a couple, Ruth and Oriyomi Idowu, for alleged money laundering and forgery. The couple were arraigned alongside firms belonging to Ms Idowu, the third to the sixth defendants (Food Commodity Processing Enterprise, Bonway Food Processing Company Ltd., Samee Idowu Company Ltd. and Farmex Integrated Companies Ltd).
