Senior Citizens Centre pushes for social safety net for older persons

The Director-General, National Senior Citizen Centre, Dr Emem Omokaro, says the centre will inaugurate social safety net for older persons to further enhance their livelihoods in the country. Omokaro made this known at a news conference on Friday in Abuja as part of activities marking this year’s independence anniversary and the International Day for Older Persons by the centre. She noted that there were 70 older persons in each and every state of the federation benefiting from the grants for poor and vulnerable households under the National Social Investment Programme. Bosede, in the petition by CD's Secretary General, Pastor Ifeanyi Odili, was about a year ago coerced into embarking on the trip by a female human trafficker who had since abandoned the victim to her fate. NBC calls for community sensitisation to resolve Bauchi/Yobe boundary dispute

The National Boundary Commission (NBC) has urged Bauchi and Yobe state governments to scale up sensitisation activities in border communities to promote peaceful coexistence and facilitate harmonious resolution of interstate boundary disputes. The Director-General of NBC, Adamu Adaji made the call at the Joint meeting of officials of the Bauchi and Yobe interstate boundary on Tuesday in Abuja. According to Adaji, the Bauchi-Yobe interstate boundary is approximately 170 kilometers in length.
