Katsina: Bandits Kill Four Farmers, Abduct Eight Others

Suspected bandits killed four farmers and abducted eight others from Nahuta village in the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Saturday. Police spokesman in the state, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the attack on Sunday in Katsina. He said the farmers were harvesting their crops when the assailants struck. One of the farmers who managed to escape received gunshot wounds, he added. “The suspected bandits attacked the farmers and opened fire on them, thereby killing four and injuring one; they also abducted eight others,’’ Mr Aliyu said.

EFCC Secures 65 Convictions In Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has secured 65 court convictions of financial fraudsters from January to December 15 in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states. Ondo Assembly Confirms Receiving Akeredolu’s Letter Transferring Power To Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo House of Assembly has confirmed receipt of a letter from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu requesting to proceed on medical leave in Germany. Olamide Oladiji, the parliament speaker, said this in a statement. Mr Oladiji explained that the governor’s action was in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). According to the speaker, Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will act as the governor. He said the letter stipulated that the leave would commence on December 13. A popular Yoruba poet, writer, artiste and religious leader, Alhaji Olanrewaju Adepoju, is dead. Adepoju died on Sunday at his Idi Orogbo off Ring Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State residence around 7 pm.
