Vandalism: NSCDC arrests 12 suspects, impounds trucks, warehouses

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 12 suspected vandals and impounded two trucks conveying stolen railway sleepers. This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by NSCDC Director, Public Relations, Commandant Olusola Odumosu. Odumosu said that the Corps had also clamped down on two illegal warehouses with large quantity of vandalised railway sleepers. He said that the arrests were made within two weeks during three separate operations by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS). “The arrests were made at Kafanchan- Kwoi Road, Kaduna State and Agwan-Kuje village, Nasarawa and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp, Keffi- Abuja express way,” Odumosu said. NDLEA intercepts 48,380 pills of tramadol in Kogi

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has intercepted 48,380 pills of tramadol along Ewohimi road, heading toward Kabba in Kogi. This is contained in a statement in Abuja on Sunday by the agency’s Director, Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi. Babafemi stated that the consignment were loaded in a commercial bus marked KAK 66 XA, noting that the NDLEA operatives apprehended the bus driver, Ibrahim John in the process. Police nab mechanic for alleged theft of customer’s car

The Police Command in Nasarawa State has arrested a mechanic, Sani Musa-Labaran, 49, for allegedly stealing and selling a car his customer brought for repairs. New toll fare: Abuja Airport shifts date to August 1.

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has shifted the date to effect new tariff toll fare at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) from July 17 to Aug. 1. In a statement signed by the FAAN Management on Sunday in Abuja, the postponement was to make the airport users to enjoy more of the current charges. According to the management, the fare for cars will change from N200 to N300, while that of buses and Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) will change from N300 to N500 only. It said the truck (six tyres) tariff would change from N500 to N1,000 while the trailer and container tariff would be N2,000. The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has elected to hear a N1.5 billion defamation suit brought against former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami by ex-Governor Victor Attah. Justice Emeka Nwite, in a ruling, dismissed the preliminary objection raised by Mr Malami, challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear the case. Mr Attah, through his lawyer, Reuben Atabo, had sued the AGF as the sole defendant in the case. In the ruling, Mr Nwite upheld the argument by the plaintiff’s lawyer, Atabo, that the subject of the case fell within the scope of the court’s jurisdictional competence as provided in Section 251 of the constitution.
