IMF board approves $271m loan facility for Burundi

The International Monetary Fund’s executive board on Tuesday, approved a 271 million dollars Extended Credit Facility for Burundi, with an immediate disbursement of over 62 million dollars. The IMF in a statement said the East African country’s economy was just starting to recover from years of conflict and political upheaval under former leader Pierre Nkurunziza that left key sectors blighted. IMF said the loan facility would help address Burundi’s protracted balance of payments needs, rebuild external buffers and support the government’s reform agenda. Director-General of the commission, Dr John Asein made the call at the opening of NCS Management Retreat, Sensitisation Workshop and Public Enlightenment on the newly enacted Nigeria Customs Service Act. Farmer docked for allegedly threatening man in ”drama house”

A 20-year-old farmer, Adamu Aminu was docked in an Upper Area Court Gwagwalada, Abuja for allegedly threatening a man in a ”drama house;;. The police charged Aminu who resides in tipper garage Gwagwalada with constituting public nuisance and attempt to commit an offence of causing hurt. The Prosecution Counsel, Malam Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the matter was reported at the Gwagwalada police station by Jamilu Ishak of same address on July 15. Tanko said that the defendant went to the ”drama house” located in Gwagwalada with scissors and cutlass threatening to fight a man, Ali Rabiu.
