Austerity: Ex-CBN Director Advises Tinubu To reduce Cost Of Governance

Titus Okunrounmu, a former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) director, has advised President Bola Tinubu’s government to reduce the cost of governance to stem the country’s debt profile. Mr Okunrounmu, who gave the advice Thursday in an interview in Ota, Ogun, described the list of ministerial portfolios on Wednesday as over-bloated for a country with a huge debt profile. DICON Factory Can Produce Two Million Army, Police Uniforms-Chief of Defence Staff

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, says the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) factory can produce up to two million pairs of uniform materials annually for members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies in Nigeria. On Wednesday, Mr Musa disclosed this during a maiden visit to DICON ordnance factories and facilities at its Headquarters in Kaduna. The factory is a public-private partnership between DICON and Sur Corporate Wears Nigeria Ltd. Mr Musa said the factory is scheduled to be inaugurated in December. NDLEA Seizes Hard Drugs Worth N56.9 Million In Abuja

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) FCT command says it intercepted about 3,091.032kg of suspected illicit drugs with a monetary value of over N56.9 million from January to date. Kabir Tsakuwa, NDLEA’s FCT commandant, disclosed this in an interview on Wednesday in Abuja. Mr Tsakuwa said the drugs seized included suspected cannabis sativa, cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, tramadol, Rohypnol, diazepam, ecstasy, and megadon. He also stated that 343 drug suspects were arrested within the period, adding that they comprised 328 males and 15 females. Mr Tsakuwa also mentioned that the NDLEA prosecuted 188 drug offenders, with 126 convicted.
