Stakeholders, on Friday, called for abolition of female genital mutilation (FGM). Assault: Court Remands Seun Kuti For Additional Four Days

A Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has granted an application for an extension of remand of afrobeat singer Seun Kuti for additional four days. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Olatubosun, extended Kuti’s remand until May 22. Simon Lough (SAN), who led a police legal team to the court, had moved the application. According to him, the extension is to allow further investigation into the case. Mr Kuti is charged with assaulting a police officer. He allegedly committed the offence on May 13 on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos State. El-Rufai spent N43.8 billion in first quarter of 2023-Report

Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s administration spent N43.8 billion of the N89.1 billion generated in the first quarter of 2023. The figure was revealed in the Kaduna first quarter budget performance report. The office of the account general produced the report with the support of the Planning and Budget Commission on Tuesday. It showed that the N89.1 billion generated and the N43.8 billion expended represented 23.7 per cent and 11.7 per cent of the N376.5 billion total budget for the year. A 70-year-old man, Abdullahi Haruna,  on Tuesday appeared before an Upper Area Court, Gwagwalada, Abuja, for allegedly giving false information to the police. Haruna, who lives at Rugan Fulani Piri Village, Kwali, Abuja, is also  charged with criminal trespass and inciting public disturbance.
