NERDC develops 9-year basic education curricula for blind persons

By Jacinta Nwachukwu The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) on Thursday, launched the Adapted Nine-year Basic Education Curricula (BEC) for the blind and visually impaired to aid their learning. Prof. Ismail Junaidu, Executive Secretary, NERDC, disclosed this in Abuja at the public presentation of the National Language Policy, National Reading Framework, Adapted Nine-year BEC and other documents. Junaidu said that the adaptation had restored hope to the multitude of visually impaired learners as they would now be taught with curriculum contents that met their needs. Man Sentenced for stealing Bibles , drinks and others in church

A painter named Zakaraya Usman was on Thursday sentenced to two months imprisonment by a Grade I Area Court in Kabusa, Abuja. He was charged for stealing four bibles, 124 church membership forms, and other items. The police charged Usman with theft, and after he pleaded guilty to the charge, the Judge, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced him. Sadiq gave him an option to pay a fine of N10,000 or serve the jail term. The prosecutor, Mr. O. S. Contractor Remanded by Court For Swindling A colonel

A contractor, Fidelis Ohue, has been accused of swindling a Colonel of N450,000 and has been ordered to be remanded in a correctional centre by a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja. 26-year-old sales representative, Miracle Bisong, was accused on Thursday of stealing her boyfriend's television, foodstuffs, and money. She was brought before an Upper Customary Court in New Karu, Nasarawa State for charges of criminal breach of trust and theft. Man, 22, bags one year jail term for stealing 4 motorcycle

A 22-year old man, Denen Hangier, was, on Thursday, convicted and sentenced to one year imprisonment for stealing four motorcycles belonging to different commercial motorcyclists. Nigerians can now request their commercial banks to issue them with a debit card which doubles as their National Identity Card at no extra cost. Gunmen Open Fire , Kill inspector, injure two police officers at a Check point

A Police Inspector has been reportedly shot dead while two other officers were injured by gunmen who rained bullets on them at a checkpoint in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State on Monday.
