Estate agent jailed 9 months for cheating

A Dei-Dei Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced a 40-year-old estate agent, Esther Usman, to nine months’ imprisonment for cheating his client to the tune of N250,000 The Judge, Mr Saminu Suleiman convicted Usman, a resident of Tunaga-maji, Zuba, Abuja, on a two-count charge of breach of trust and cheating following her guilty plea. Suleiman, however, gave her an option of N30,000 fine, and ordered her to pay N200,000 as compensation to the complainant. Suleiman said that the punishment would have been stiffer if the convict had not saved the court’s time by admitting guilt. He warned her to desist from crime. Scavenger jailed 6 months for stealing iron window protectors

A 25-year old scavenger, Joshua Lucky, was on Tuesday sentenced to six months imprisonment for stealing iron window protectors. Lucky was prosecuted on a two-count charge of stealing and breaking into living house. The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Olufemi Omilana, told the court that Lucky committed the offence at about 8.3 a.m. on March 17. He said that the convict broke into the house of Oluwatoyin Christopher at Plot 5, Akoto Layout, Elebu area, Ibadan. ”In the process, he stole five iron window protectors valued at N100, 000,” Omilana said. NiMet warns of possible discomfort as temperatures rise above 40 degrees Celsius

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) on Sunday warned of possible rise in temperatures in some cities which might lead to thermal discomfort. The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted Nigerians to the recalled EzriCare and Delsam Pharma Artificial Tears eye drops. The recall is contained in a public alert with No: 008/2023 signed by NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, in Abuja on Sunday.
