Pastor Thomas Sylvanus Ayeyilo, founder and CEO of MyCare Life Foundation and Makarious Hearttouch Ministry, has urged the Federal Government, traditional institutions, civil society organizations (CSOs), and key stakeholders to prioritize youth inclusion in governance and nation-building to foster sustainable development in Nigeria.
Pastor Ayeyilo made this appeal during an interview and interactive session with NTA International in Abuja, themed “Youth Involvement in Nationhood.” He emphasized the need for platforms that amplify youth voices and engage them in policy-making processes, noting that young people have a unique understanding of their needs and aspirations.
“There is an urgent need for the government to create platforms where youth voices can be heard, rather than sidelining them as if they are unimportant to nation-building,” Pastor Ayeyilo said. “Including young people in policy-making at community, state, and national levels is crucial because they know what they want and bring fresh perspectives to governance.”
He further called for the establishment of regulatory frameworks to promote accountability and curb policy mismanagement, which can help prevent societal disorder and inefficiency.
Pastor Ayeyilo highlighted the creativity and innovation inherent in young people, stressing that their energy and passion make them invaluable assets for national progress. “The youth are inherently creative and possess the passion for innovation,” he noted. “With the strength to synergize ideas, they can significantly contribute to nation-building.”
