Chaos, Anger Welcomes Ibe Kachikwu to Interactive Session with Reps

An open display of discontent and chanting of denunciatory songs by opposition party members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

has today foisted a huge storm on Nigeria’s House of Representatives to protest the litany of failed electoral promises and introduction of harsh economic reforms by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

The country’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu became the immediate medium of invectives and anger targeted at the ruling party, APC. Ibe Kachikwu holds the junior ministerial portfolio in the ministry controlled African Big man style by President Buhari.

A similar precedence was set by Olusegun Obasanjo in Presidency that is one of the most powerful on the face of the earth.

Protesting PDP lawmakers whose party shipped into opposition after a sixteen year straight hold on power in Africa’s largest democracy did not want Dr. Kachikwu admitted into the hallowed chambers. They sang and they waved the national flag demanding that he should be prevented from coming in.

Dr. Kachikwu had been billed to specially interact with the lawmakers at noon on Monday. The session descended into an uproar as soon as he was introduced, accusations were hauled at him as the agent of the government being accused of moral hypocrisy on account of using popular discontent with an attempt to remove oil subsidy by former President Goodluck Jonathan to ride into power only to turn around and whop citizens with partial economic programmes while staging theatrics on anti-corruption crusade.

The Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, was eventually able to restore order at 12:43 p.m.

The Minority Leader, Leo Ogor, thereafter moved that the House dissolve into a closed-door session “to resolve pending controversial issues.”

The House then went into executive session.
