The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has reiterated its committment to strengthening families ties and building strong marriages in the country.
Mr Gifford Nielson, President of the West Africa Area of the church, made the call in Abuja at the church’s national conference with the theme: “Strengthening Families” in Abuja.
The president said that when families build strong ties among themselves, it in turn, creates sustainable, peaceful and developed societies.
“We need to use this forum, this conference to build and find the right language, reasoning and also witness to the hearts of people throughout Africa.
“May we continue to teach and testify of our traditional marriages with enthusiasm and with courage.
“The greatest gift we can give our children is a stable and loving family as strong families are key to a flourishing society,” he said.
In his remarks, Mr Christian Chigbundu, Managing Director, Cosharis Mobility Limited-Sixt Nigeria, added that great nations are created when there are good generation of strong families.
“Your highest personal priority is your spouse, you are committed to each other and your children and grandchildren are yours forever.
“Committment you put in your marriage is essential and very important as marriage brings greater possibilities for happiness than any other relationship.
“Yet some married couples take each other for granted and allow other interests to obscure their vision of what marriage could really be,” he added.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event featured panel discussion as well as award presentation to some distinguished personalities.
