Christ The King College (CKC) Gwagwalada Abuja, Old Boys Association, has donated food items and toiletries to City of Refuge Orphanage to help lessen the burden and needs of the less privileged in the society.
Engr Martin Abanobi, President of the association while donating the items said the gesture is an annual Easter Charity Visit and the groups way of showing its social responsibilities to the less privileged.
According to him, the association, which came into existence in 2010 , has charity work as one of its mandate to give back to the society.
He added that the association is also aimed at complementing the efforts of the Government to bringing succour to the needy in the country.
He said that, “It’s our little way of partnering with the less privileged in the society having recognised the need for us to assist those who are in need of our support.
“This is a clever way of sending message to members of the public that all of us have to be our brothers’ keeper.
Mrs Kara, a Ghanian national and Coordinator of the Orphanage, thanked the association for their kind support and promised that the items would be used to carter for the children.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items donated included noodles, cartons of minerals, toiletries, beverages and cash donations among others were formally presented to the orphanage. (NAN)
