OBEDIENT Emoto, a lawmaker representing Ogbia Constituency II in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, has called on Nigerians to persuade President Goodluck Jonathan to seek a second term in office in the 2015 presidential elections.
Emoto made the call in Yenagoa on Thursday, when members of the Ogbia Legislators Assessment Foundation (OLAF) paid him a visit to congratulate him as his recent award as Bayelsa’s “Best Performed Lawmaker of the Year”
According to Emoto who was a former Chief Whip of the Bayelsa House of Assembly, the emergence of Goodluck Jonathan as the president is a divine intervention to rescue Nigeria from the shackles of poverty, deprivation and underdevelopment.
He stressed that Nigerians would gain more from Jonathan’s eight year rule, urging that Nigerians must shun divisive tendencies, hatred and religious bigotry to attain development.
Although 2015 is still a whole two years away, Emoto stressed the need for Nigerians to empower Jonathan for a second term of office, according to him, to enable the president consolidate on his successes.
Urging Nigerians to come together to fight the threats to their faith and way of life by terrorists who want to tear the country apart, he said Jonathan was a listening leader who will not turn his back on a mass appeal for him to run for office again.
