Corps member commissions projects in Kuje, FCT

A Batch C Corps member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), serving in Kuje Area Council, FCT, Mr Hassan Salihu, on Thursday, commissioned some projects as part of his community development service in the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the projects commissioned are, donation of 50 seats to Government Secondary School (GSS) Kuje, renovated Islamiya school, central juma’at mosque and zebra crossing lines.

Others are, renovated toilets and mosque in GSS kuje, renovated islamiya school toilets and construction of its fence.

Saliu, who also volunteers to control traffic at Kuje Prison junction during rush hours, is a graduate of Accounting, Federal University Gashua, Yobe state.

According to him, the gesture was born from his experience and passion to give back to the society.

The corps member disclosed that he likes meeting peoples’ needs wherever he found himelf, as it would make people feel his absence.

He said, “I like looking out for needs in my environment and solving them so that when I am not there, someone will feel like somebody came here and left, not like when you are gone, everybody will forget that you came.

The NYSC head of Community Development Service (CDS) FCT, Mrs Blessing Nwaoha , who applauded the gesture of Salihu, urged other corps members to emulate his gesture.

Nwaoha, charged the corps members to do the little they could to contribute their quotas to their host communities.

She noted that corps members serving in the Federal Capital Territory were well groomed to meet the challenges of the 21st century

The FCT head of CDS also called on host communities and other stakeholders to support corps members in their various communities. (NAN)
