The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has decorated no fewer than 200 newly promoted officers at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the newly-decorated personnel included: senior officers and junior officers alike.
Performing the decoration on Thursday in Gwagwalada, Ibrahim Idris, the Controller of Corrections FCT Command, urged the officers to see their elevation as an added responsibility.
he admonished the promoted officers to display utmost professionalism and hard work, as the elevation signifies that more was expected from them.
in his word, he stated that “To whom much is given, much is expected and a new rank is a call for greater duty and to put more efforts to what you have been doing before”.
Adding, that without security in the nation, the socio-economic and political development of that nation will be stagnant and it is our duty to ensure that those in our care are protected.
Controller Idris, expressed gratitude to the Civil Defense, Correctional, Immigration and Fire service Board (CDCIFB) and the Controller-General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa Mni, for graciously approving the promotion of this large number which is the first in history of the service urging those waiting for theirs to be patient for thiers to come.
The FCT Command Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASC Adamu Samson Duza, said the decoration was aimed at motivating the officers to be zealous in discharging their duties.
The PRO however, charged the newly promoted officers to be serious while discharging their duties for the development of the country.
The Deputy Controller of Corrections, Nursing, Mrs Onuoha Lucy, on behalf of the newly promoted officers expressed joy for the decoration to her new rank, and promised to use her promotion for the development of the service and the country at large.
However, she appreciated the President and Commander-in-Chief as well as the Controller-General of Corrections for graciously approving the promotion, while calling on the officers not to disappoint the service and country at large .
