Nigerian aviation authorities have again announced the suspension of DANA Airlines, a domestic passenger carrier, operated by Indian Expatriates in Nigeria, barely six months after arranged return of operational licence following a tragic crash in which several people died in June 2012, the worst incident in the industry for the year.
Sharpedgenews gathered that a problem in the wiring of one of DANA planes was the immediate cause for the grounding of its fleet by aviation minister, Stella Odua.
Joe Obi, media handler of Mrs. Odua confirmed that one of DANA’s planes had major safety issues with its operational battery.
“It is true. The Minister is mostly concerned about safety of Nigerians and she is determined to ensure that those operating airlines adhere strictly to safety,”
According to him, “the Minister would not compromise safety and operators have been warned to adhere to international best practices and those who fail won’t escape sanctions.”
The airline said in a statement on Sunday that it did not know the reason for the suspension.
It resumed flying in September last year after the crash in June in Lagos in which 153 persons on board and 10 others on the ground were killed.
