Delta Airline Flight to Lagos Cancelled over ‘Mechanical’ Fault

A LAGOS-bound Delta Airline flight scheduled to depart Atlanta, Georgia in the United States was on Tuesday evening cancelled “indefinitely” due to what flight crew cited as “mechanical problems”.

The cancellation was announced after passengers had already boarded the plane and waited on the tarmac for over one hour without any information about what was responsible for the delay.

The aircraft, a Boeing 757 jet, was not cleared for the flight across the Atlantic because, according to officials, two engines in the plane were not in-sync.

A crewmember who identified himself as the pilot of the airplane later confirmed to sharpedgenews.com that the Airline would go ahead after the initial mechanical fault found with the airplane has been isolated.

Passengers on the airline had begun to express concern about the delay after sitting uncomfortably in the aircraft, even as infants and toddlers on the airplane cried ceaselessly.

Atlanta is one of the three busiest airport routes that Nigerians in the Diaspora take on their journeys to the homeland, besides Houston, Texas and New York City.

Delta Airlines has its biggest hub in the southern city of Atlanta, from where its operations to Nigeria are exclusively serviced.
