The natural gas supply to gas-powered plants in November 2019 averaged 645 Million Standard Cubit Feet per Day (mmscfd) to generate 2,178 megawatts of power.

This is a 16.53% improvement on the average performance of the previous month of October which averaged at 553mmscfd to 2,050 megawatts of power.

This disclosure was made in a release by the Acting Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Sunday.

According to the release, the corporation’s pipelines network suffered 68 attacks from vandals up by 94%, almost double, over the October figure of 35 incidents. Thirty-one per cent of the attacks were along the Mosinmi/Ibadan corridor while 34% occurred on the Mosimi/Alcove and Ibadan/ Ilorin networks. The remaining 35% happened from various routes across the nation.

On production, the release stated a national gas production of 228.65billion Cubic Feet (BCF) for the month, translating to an average daily production of 7,621.68Million Standard Cubic Feet per day (mmscfd).

“A period-to-date Production from Joint Ventures (JVs), Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) and Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) contributed about 69.50 per cent, 21.06 per cent and 9.44 per cent respectively to the total national gas production.”

“Out of the total volume of gas supplied in November 2019, 137.02BCF of gas was commercialized, consisting of 35.29BCF and 101.73BCF for the domestic and export market respectively.

This translates to a total supply of 1,176.40mmscfd of gas to the domestic market and 3,391.04mmscfd of gas supplied to the export market for the month, implying that 59.91 per cent of the average daily gas produced was commercialized, while the balance of 40.09 per cent was re-injected, used as upstream fuel gas or flared.”

There was a negligible drop in the gas flare rate from 8.80 percent of October to 8.29 per cent in the month under review.

The report said an export sale of crude oil and gas of $504.44million was recorded in November 2019; indicating an increase of 4.39 per cent compared to the previous month.

Full details of the operations are contained in the Corporation’s Monthly Financial and Operations Report(MFOR) for the month of November,2019.
