Disaster Looms in Isheri-Osun Area

The residents of Ijedodo Area of Isheri-Osun in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State have sent an SOS to the Governor of Lagos State to come to their rescue in the face of the disaster looming in the community.

In the letter  submitted to the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences , Governor’s Office, the community drew the attention of the relevant government agencies to danger the people in the area are being exposed by illegal erection of houses on NNPC pipeways.

The letter which was signed by Chief Lamidi Oseni stated that the  illegal buildings on the NNPC pipeways include churches which are increasing by the day because “some persons who claim to be land owners who now engage themselves in the sale and transfer of these parcels of land under which the NNPC pipeline is constructed.

The foundations of these buildings, according to Chief Lamidi Oseni, have exposed the “pipes from which some persons now siphon petrol at odd hours of the night.”

He points out that “the foundation of a particular Celestial Church of Christ has affected one of NNPC’s pipelines, a development that has caused anxiety in the community as one of the damaged pipeline may cause unimaginable damage to properties and loss of human lives if no prompt attention was given to the damaged pipeline.”
