Double Jeopardy for Aminu Lamido for Killing Kano Pedestrian

– Police Treat Killing with Kid Gloves

AMINU Lamido, son of Governor Sule Lamido is in trouble again with the police for running

over and killing a yet to be identified pedestrian on the street in the city of Kano, where he has been keeping dates with the country’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly attempting to smuggle out huge sums of money.

Aminu Lamido was allegedly arrested and later released on Wednesday for knocking down a pedestrian who had tried crossing a street. The governor’s son was said to have been granted bail despite the weighty pretrial case of murder.

Mr. Lamido has been enjoying an uncommon freedom despite the serious allegations of money laundering and vehicular homicide that no ordinary Nigerian can boast of in the circumstance. His double jeopardy and the casual handling of the matters continue to accentuate the dangerous double set of laws for the powerful versus the helpless in the Nigerian criminal code.
