Easter: Lawmaker tasks FCT residents on peaceful coexistence

The House of Representatives member for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, Hon. Micah Jiba has appealled to residents of the Federal Capital Territory  (FCT) to live in peace and harmony to attract the much-needed infrastructural development.

Jiba, who made the call on his Easter message on Sunday, said the significance of the season was for every Christian to show an exemplary life of Jesus on the cross of Calvary to save mankind. 
According to him, devine evidence has shown that when people turn to God in true supplication, in times of distress, agony, sickness and disappointment the Almighty God inturn answers prayers.
He said: ”It is only in a peaceful and conducive environment that business, government activities and the desired infrastructural development can be achieved. 

“I urge you to use this season Easter celebrations to reflect on the significance of the FCT as the Center of Unity of our great country. 
“This is the season to show true neighborliness and reach out to the needy and the less privileged who have been impacted negatively by COVID 19 pandemic,” he said. 

On COVID-19 safety guidelines, he also advised residents to follow all the necessary health protocols of constant handwashing, use of alcohol based sanitiser, and observing social distancing.

He described Easter as one of the holiest celebrations for Christians to that enables them reflect on the way of life of of Jesus Christ while on earth to save mankind. 
The lawmaker equally encouraged residents to use the Easter celebrations to imbibe the spirit of unity which the FCT symbolizes.
“This is one time where prevention is most certainly better than cure, and you must therefore be disciplined and maintain personal hygiene by observing all the guidelines. 
“You should also adhere to the revention protocols of constant hand washing, use of alcohol based sanitizers and observance of social distancing,” he said.
However, the Lawmaker also wished the residents of FCT a happy Easter celebrations and encouraged them to enjoy the festivities from the safety of their homes. (NAN)
