Economist launches magazine to promote Nigeria’s economy

Dr Chinedu Amadi, an expert in economics, has reaffirmed his commitment to projecting Nigeria’s economy on the global stage.Amadi, also the author of the quarterly Trade Horizon Magazine, made this known during the inauguration ceremony of the publication held on Thursday in Abuja. He described the magazine as a research-based publication dedicated to exploring trade and investment opportunities within Nigeria and across the African continent.“The objective of the magazine is to provide insightful analyses and foster dialogue aimed at driving economic growth and integration in Africa.“By doing so, we aim to position the continent as a formidable player in the global marketplace.”Amadi said that a key focus of the magazine would be the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which he described as a significant milestone in Africa’s economic history.“Nigeria plays a pivotal role in the continent’s economic landscape. The country’s economy is diverse, with significant contributions from agriculture, manufacturing, and services.“Nigeria has the potential to become a manufacturing hub for the continent. These are some of the issues the magazine will spotlight to attract investors,” he said.He added that increased investment would create massive job opportunities, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.Amadi highlighted the shift in Nigeria’s trade policy, which now emphasised diversifying exports beyond crude oil, focusing instead on non-oil exports such as cocoa, rubber, and palm produce.“At Trade Horizon Magazine, we are committed to providing in-depth analyses, expert opinions, and comprehensive coverage of the trends shaping Africa’s trade and investment landscape.“We believe that by highlighting success stories, promoting solution-oriented and development journalism, and fostering dialogue, we can contribute meaningfully to Africa’s economic transformation and its integration into the global economy.“Join us on this journey as we explore the vistas, prospects, and possibilities embedded in trade and investment in Nigeria and across Africa,” he added.Amadi, who is also the President of the Organisation of Youth in International Trade and Commerce (OY-ITC), said the organisation was focused on developing new opportunities and providing technical guidance.Amb. Bolaji Akinremi, Director of Economic, Trade and Investment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commended the initiative, emphasising the need for greater understanding of foreign policy principles and the role of diplomacy in international trade relations.“It’s important for people to understand how diplomacy shapes responses to global trade challenges in the evolving world order,” he said.Akinremi advised Nigerian youth to realise their potential and use it to their advantage.“My advice to all the youth is that their tomorrow starts now. Make good use of your time—the future is today.“The future is now. Don’t leave any stone unturned. Be everywhere. Be calculative. Be imaginative. And of course, be humble,” he said.He commended Amadi for his impressive efforts in bringing the publication to life and for his contribution toward economic development.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)VOE/AMM=========Edited by Abiemwense Moru
