Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has called for continuous prayers for the peace, prosperity, and development of Gombe State and Nigeria.
The Governor made the call in a felicitation message to the Muslim Ummah in Gombe State and across the globe on the occasion of this year’s Eid el-Kabir celebration.
He emphasized the importance of unity, sacrifice, and compassion amidst the current socio-economic and security challenges facing the country.
He noted the essence of Eid el-Kabir as a time for sacrifice, sharing, and caring, urging the faithful to emulate the spirit of obedience, love, and resilience exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and upheld by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He used the occasion to encourage the people not to lose sight of the festival’s teachings of selflessness, love, and obedience to Almighty Allah’s commands in spite of the socio-economic challenges currently facing the country.
According to him, “Although this year’s celebration comes at a challenging time, we must not forget the valuable lessons of Eid el-Kabir”,
He then expressed gratitude to traditional rulers, community and religious leaders as well as the people of the State for their continued support, reassuring them of his administration’s commitment to implementing policies and projects that will drive socio-economic progress.
“We remain resolute in our determination to execute people-oriented policies and programmes for the betterment of our dear state”, he assured.
Governor Yahaya also stressed the importance of security and urged citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could threaten peace.
He affirmed the government’s responsibility to protect lives and property and pledged continued support for security agencies saying, “Government will not abdicate its primary responsibility of ensuring the safety and security of our people”.
The Governor also extended his congratulations to the Muslim pilgrims performing Hajj, wishing them a successful and rewarding pilgrimage.
