Ekiti Deputy Governor Commences 3-Month Health Leave

DEPUTY-GOVERNOR Funmi Olayinka has proceeded on a three-month leave to attend to certain undisclosed health challenges that she faces.

The disclosure was made on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, in apparent confirmation of long-running rumors that the flamboyant deputy governor was facing unconfirmed health issues.

The rumors went around last year after Mrs. Olayinka stayed out of public eye for several weeks.  She eventually surfaced to dispel rumors of her health situation.

A similar event played out early this year as the deputy-governor arrived work on the first-working day of the year to sing and dance in a praise and worship session.

Although the state government was silent on the nature of her illness, it asked the people of Ekiti State to pray for Mrs. Olayinka’s speedy recuperation.

The release urged the people of the state to pray for her speedy recovery.

A former chairman of Oye Local Government Council, Mr. Bamitale Oguntoyinbo who was appointed last February as a special adviser in the deputy-governor’s office has been overseeing Mrs. Olayinka’s role as the Number Two government official in the state.
