Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has redeemed his pledge to give N10 million revolving loans to artisans in the state.
The governor, at a ceremony at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Ado-Ekiti, gave the loans to artisans cutting across various trades and from different parts of the state.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in a statement yesterday, said the governor promised to add to the money if beneficiaries make judicious use of the initial seed money.
“The other time I met with you, I promised that a revolving loan would be given to you and today, I am fulfilling the promise. I am also happy with the way your leaders have managed their people. We want to see how you are making progress and if you use this opportunity well, we can add to the seed money for more people to benefit.
“Everybody can’t get it at the same time but if you did not default in repayment, it will get to other people. I wouldn’t mind to seek further loans to support you and I have asked your leaders to give dates that we can meet on regular basis. Your group must also get to every local government area. I appreciate the support you are giving the government and I want you to continue. This is your government and you must defend it,” he added.
Some of the beneficiaries Babalola Oluwatobi, Sunday Idowu and Akinyemi Segun, commended the governor for keeping his promise.
“With this gesture, Governor Ayodele Fayose has confirmed that he is a reliable person who keeps his promises. We have had many governors in the state, but Fayose is really a friend of the masses. His actions and deeds show that he loves the people and their welfare is top on his mind,” Oluwatobi said.
Also speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of. Ekiti State Artisans Association, Mr. Julius Adu, said his association would always be grateful to the governor.
He lauded Fayose for being a promise keeper and a defender of the poor and the voiceless in the society.
