Erratic Power supply: Activities Paralyzed at Ibadan Poly

All gates leading to the Polytechnic Ibadan was blocked by students of the Institution to protest erratic power supply

in the institution. Also all academic activities were suspended.

Some of the students who preferred anonymity  said: “Power supply has been so terrible in the school recently. We stated our plight to the authority. We have been experiencing perpetual darkness at nights in the school since they carried out a repair work on the generator.

While reacting, the Public Relations Officer of the school Alhaji Soladoye Adewole, said: “We started having problem with students when the power generating set went bad. The generator required overhauling and it is taking time to put it in order.

“We once gave them phone numbers of principal officers so that they could complain and cross-check facts from the school authorities as occasion demanded.

“We understand that the students were not happy about the situation but the matter should have been tabled rather than engaging a protest.”

The angry students were later pacified with a promise that power would be available between 6am and 7am and 8pm to 11pm daily.
