EWIP congratulates Tinubu, tasks women on maximum support

Evolving Women in Politics (EWIP) a Non-Governmental Women Group, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his ascension as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Hon. Chief Hadizat Kolo, the FCT Coordinator, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, during the celebration of the Inauguration of the Presidency and Grand Patron Chief Mrs Folashade Mujidat Tinibu-Ojo in Abuja.

The Coordinator, while giving her congratulatry message call on the new administration for adequate participation of women in governance to ensure gender equality, sustainability and for the development democracy in the country.

However, Hon. Chief Hadizat also called on all Nigerians to be patient with the suden removal of oil subsidy, which according to her will stabilise in near future for the interest of all.

“Women and girls should have a major role to play in governance, to restore their pride and dignity and encourage societal norms and values for nation building and development.

“I believe the new administration will uphold the campaign promises made during the electoral process and I call on the new government to prioritize key areas to better the lives of Nigerians.

“Women account for a substantial proportion of the agricultural labour force and perform the bulk of unpaid care and domestic work within families and households in rural areas.

“They make significant contributions to agricultural production, food security and nutrition, land and natural resource management and building climate resilience,” she said.

Besides, she acknowledged that President Tinubu’s wealth of experience and visionary leadership will provide a strong foundation for shaping Nigeria’s future.

According to her, Tinubu’s leadership as back then as Lagos State Governor brought massive development and economic opportunities which will surely be replicated to the entire country. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
