A source within the ministry told sharpedgenews.com that the cabal is so powerful that once an advert for the vacant position of a Vice-Chancellor has been placed and prospective candidates begin to apply, the cabal according to him will swing into action.
The cabal, according to the source, gathers the names of the candidates and chooses its preferred candidate who will dance to their tune once appointed.
The source added that the dossiers of other prospective candidates are gathered by the cabal, which are used to disqualify them.
Some are disqualified based on fabricated petitions allegedly written by members of staff or based on investigation conducted by a panel they set up. Cases of sexual molestation of students, examination malpractices and some others are equally brought forward to disqualify some of the candidates.
According to him, in certain situations, when some of the candidates have clean records, the cabal members would ensure that only their candidate scores the highest mark in the interviews that are conducted for them.
Since they are the people who would constitute those who will interview the candidates; they ensure that only their candidate scores the highest.
