FAMILY members of the late legal luminary and human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State.
Their endorsement was contained in a statement signed by Mrs. Ganiyat Fawehinmi and Mr. Mohammed Fawehinmi, the wife and first son respectively, of the late legal icon.
The statement, which was made available to newsmen on Thursday in Akure, stated that Ondo State had not had a better governor than the incumbent.
According to the family, Mimiko has in the last three and half years implemented programs which had direct impact on the life of the common man.
“In his life time, our late father had the opportunity of exchanging ideas with Gov. Mimiko on his expectations for the development of Ondo State.
“Three and half years down the line, the family has critically assessed the level of development in the state.
“This is vis-a-vis the expectations of our late father and we have reached a conclusion that the developmental strides of the governor have met those expectations and, therefore, we have no hesitation in endorsing him for re-election,” the statement said.
The family also stated that in taking the decision, ” we are conscious that governance is a continuum and we have no doubt that Mimiko is equal to the task of taking Ondo State to greater heights.’’
