Fayose lauds Speaker, Ekiti electorate

Ekiti State governor, Dr Peter Ayodele Fayose, has expressed appreciation to the electorate in the state, restating his commitment to their welfare.

The governor made this pledge at Osan-Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of the state during an empowerment programme organized by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Right Honourable (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, for the people of his constituency at the weekend.

According to a statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Speaker, Stephen Gbadamosi, Governor Fayose, who was represented at the event by his deputy, Dr Kolapo Olusola, also extolled the virtues of the Speaker, describing him as a good representative of his people.

“We appreciate the support of you, the people. The Speaker is a good representative of his constituency. Part of his plan for you is what we are witnessing here today. May God empower him to do more.

“And that is why we are different. Some people would disappear after they have got your votes. After you have voted for us, we have continued to identify with you. And we will continue to do that,” Dr Olusola said.

In his speech, the Speaker promised not to relent in his effort to better the lot of his constituents, urging those who were yet to benefit from the empowerment to exercise patience, as the largesse would get to them.

“You will recall that not long ago, we organized skill acquisition programmes for a number of our young school leavers and monitored their progress through the programmes, with a promised soft loan assistance to start off on completion of their training. But for inadequate fund, much more youths would have benefitted from that initiative. By His grace, we will see this to the end.

“If it is possible for you to feel the pain we feel in our hearts, you would understand further that we meant to do more and much more. Come what may, no matter how comatose the economy is, we will continue to stay by you. But as I always say, we must keep hope alive. We must continue to pray that things will change for the better. When the plenty of Syria will arrive, none of us will be missing.

“In the meantime, as I have said, we will continue to be there for you within the means of our available resources.

“Today, we have touched the commercial sector of our constituency by providing market stalls. We thought about social amenities and we constructed a motorized borehole. Also, we have packaged social welfare goodies for a number of our aged and widows,” he said.

About fifteen categories of the electorate, ranging from students, artisans, political leaders, traditional rulers, the aged to the widow, benefited from the empowerment programme.
