Federal Character Commission restates committment to fairness, equity, justice among Nigerians

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has restated its commitment to promoting fairness, equity and justice among all Nigerians.

The commission made the commitment during its 2022 Public Affairs and Communications Department (PAC) Week which began on Wednesday in Abuja.

Dr Chuks Okoli, Director, PAC Department, said the essence of the PAC Week was to update the general public on the achievements of the commission within a specified period of time.

He added that the commission will continue to promote inclusiveness of all Nigerians and eliminate all feelings of marginalisation among Nigerians.

“Nigerians should expect a lot of information about this commission and what we do, as a lot of people do not know what the commission is all about.

“Some see us as a recruiting agency, but it is not so because we majorly function as a regulatory body that enforces a principle that guide establishment in the recruitment process.

“But we look at the standards set and ensure that the set standards by the recruiting agencies are followed so that there will be fairness, equity and justice for all Nigerians,” he said.

Okoli who earlier listed the achievements of the current executive chairman of the commission, added that the commission would continue to collaborate with various organisations to achieve its mandate.

According to him, there had been aggressive monitoring of staff recruitments and completed projects, monthly state visits by the commissioners, training and promotion of staff were given utmost priority as at when due during her leadership.

Okoli added that there had been redressing of promotion injustices, expansion of top management cadre, among several achievements, during the current leadership of the commission.

For her part, Dr Muheeba Dankaka, Executive Chairman of the Commission, commended the staff and commissioners for their collective efforts to the progress of the commission.

“We have been able to achieve a lot due to the nice directors and staff that are always willing to work,”she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that event featured drama presentation and cultural display promoting the importance of a united nation.

NAN also reports that award of excellence was bestowed on the Executive Chairman, as well as the 2022 PAC Ambassador, Miss Susan Onike, for her exceptional commitment to duty.
