FG Fine-tunes Strategies to Encourage Girls Embrace Science, Maths

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Science and Technology is fine tuning strategies to work closely with the government

of Nasarawa and other state governments to encourage the girl-child embrace and study science and mathematics subjects in schools.

The Minister of State Mohammed Abdullahi, made the disclosure when the wife of the Nasarawa State Governor, Mrs. Abdullahi Sule, paid him a visit in his office on Tuesday in Abuja.

Abdullahi, further said that the girl-child in Nasarawa state, would be encouraged to see science and other related subjects as the pathway to a glorious future. “We will leverage with the office of the first lady to encourage the girl child embrace sciences and mathematics.”

The Minister promised to initiative programmes targeting the girl-child in Nasarawa state and environs.

According to him, the ministry has been in the forefront in technology and innovations, which have succeeded in having several research institutes that have brought out first class materials and innovations.

The ministry is on its toes to see how it can support the president’s administration to achieve set goals of the next level projections.

The ultimate essence is to commercialize these innovations and use it in order to transform the economy and the security of the nation.

Furthermore, he expressed the ministry’s strong commitment to cooperate with the First lady’s projects aimed at focusing on the development of the girl-child.

He further sought to leverage on her influence in the state, to bring about more developmental projects through science to the people of the state.

Mrs. Sule, in an earlier remark, offered moral support and prayers for the minister, to excel and be guided in his duties.
