The Federal Government and UN on Saturday expressed their commitment to boost Intra-African trade for strong sustainable economic growth in the country.
A statement by Mr Mohammed Manga,
Director, Information and Public Relations of Ministry of Finance, disclosed this in Abuja.
Manga said that Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Dr Amina Mohammed and Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, discussed on preparations for the forthcoming Africa Caucus 2024.
He said that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss on how Intra-African trade can efficiently boost the nation’s economic for sustainable growth across the country.
According to him, the theme of 2024 African Caucus is tagged, “Facilitating Intra-African Trade: Catalyst for Sustainable Economic Growth in Africa” .
“The meeting is aimed at addressing key sub-themes such as strengthening Pan-African Payment Ecosystems, enhancing connectivity and ensuring energy access.
“It also aim at advancing trade facilitation within a just and equitable transition framework, as well as encouraging and supporting the optimiation of multilateral development banks in support of Africa’s collective agenda,” he said.
Manga said that the African Caucus would be taking place in Abuja and hosted by the ministry.
He said that the meeting, was attended by Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu, Mr Mohamed Malick Fall, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, and other senior officials. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
