First Lady Jonathan Returns in Mourning After Mother Dies in Road Crash

FIRST Lady Patience Jonathan returned last night from a three-day trip to Geneva to

the embrace of her husband and sympathizers who joined her in mourning her now-late mother, Mrs. Charity Oba.

 

Mrs. Oba, who was actually a surrogate mom to the first lady, died in a deadly road accident along the Yenagoa end of the East-West road late on Monday. The late Oba is reported to be the only mother that Mrs. Jonathan ever knew.

The first lady was in Geneva to receive an award as the Online Child Protection Champion from the International Telecommunication Union when the accident took the life of her foster mom, fondly called Mama Sisi.

President Goodluck Jonathan was joined by former military Head of State, Retired Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, Chief Anthony Anenih, to receive his wife.

As the bereaved arrived into the embrace of her husband at the Presidential Villa, Abuja at exactly 9.40 p.m,

Others who joined the president to receive his wife included his mother, Eunice, and wife of Bayelsa Governor Seriake Dickson, Mrs. Rachel Dickson.

Also on hand were the ministers of transport, aviation, power, science and technology and culture and tourism.

The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, later led the gathering in a prayer session for the repose of the deceased’s soul, while Anenih gave the closing remarks.
