Former Gov. Oni’s Aide tells Gov. Fayemi to Stop ‘Show of Ignorance’

-Oni Dares Governor Fayemi to Effect Alleged Threat of Arrest

MEDIA aide to former Governor Segun Oni of Ekiti State, Mr. Lere Olayinka, said on Tuesday that the current Ekiti state governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, should face the task of rescuing his “failed government” and “stop bringing shame to Ekiti with his persistent display of ignorance and narrow-mindedness.”

Reacting to Fayemi’s alleged threat to prosecute Oni for parading himself as former governor, Olayinka said; “even though Oni has opted to allow Fayemi the freedom to continue to advertise his ignorance and hatred for truth by not joining issues with him, it is pertinent to educate the public on the position of the law as regard Oni’s tenure as governor of Ekiti State.”

The statement read; “We wish to symphatize with Fayemi on this voyage of self-destruction that he has embarked on; ostensibly to shift the attention of Ekiti people from the failure that the government purchased for him has become.

“Our questions are; Is Fayemi unaware of the recent judgment of the Supreme Court on the tenure of former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris and others, which states that; ‘When the tribunal/courts so declare the election a nullity, the declaration does not affect the validity of the oaths the governor took so as to function in that office as required by the constitution, neither would it affect the bills he signed into law, contracts awarded, budgets etc. The said governors may not have been the de jure governors following the nullification of their election, …they were certainly governors de facto during the period they operated, ostensibly in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and the Electoral Act?

“Is he also unaware of the Supreme Court decisions in AG. Anambra V AG Federation (2007) 12 NWLR Pt 1047 and Balonwu V Governor, Anambra State (40 NSCQR pg 514)?

“If Segun Oni was never governor, can he (Fayemi) also claim to be governor, considering the fact that he was sworn into office by former Acting Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Silas Oyewole, who was appointed by Oni?

“If Oni was never governor, what happened to the screening and confirmation of appointments of Fayemi’s commissioners that were done by the State House of Assembly that were inaugurated by Oni? What happened to all the bills passed by the House of Assembly, including Fayemi’s 2011 Budget?

“And how does Segun Oni addressing himself as former governor or not affects the lives of the masses in Ekiti, who are suffering from the inhuman acts of Fayemi’s wicked government?

“Obviously, as we have said before, this Fayemi is an intellectual vegetable who is only dancing naked in the market place to give the impression that he has something in his head.

“This is because for Fayemi to be busy about the nomenclature of his predecessor instead of development of Ekiti State, to the extent of threatening court action goes a long way to show how demented his mind has become just because of hatred and naked ambition to rewrite history.”
