A historic FIFA Congress approved milestone reforms & General secretary of the European football body UEFA, Gianni Infantino Gianni as new FIFA President
Infantino, who hails from Switzerland like Blatter, was elected with a simple majority during a second round of voting in the presidential election, after the first round of voting had failed to determine an outright winner.
Infantino’s election was stage two in a manic survival exercise by delegates who were eager to find a winner who would stop the world from despising the world football body. The more important the passing of the stage one was the passing of reforms that the many veteran FIFA watchers expect to be watered down shen the old cliques recover their composure.
The election was held during a FIFA Extraordinary Congress in Zurich on Friday.
