Gombe PDP allege ‘blood on Gombe streets’ after thugs brutally murdered young industrialist

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has called on the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Government to immediately put an end to the escalating insecurity and violent crimes that resulted in the recent murder of a promising young industrialist.

It warned the Inuwa Yahaya led Government that the escalating insecurity, violent crimes, and total failure to protect the lives and property of the citizens have reached alarming levels, demanding serious reflection, immediate action, and moral accountability.

In a release signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, and shared to Journalists, the PDP recounted that recent months in Gombe have seen an unprecedented surge in heinous crimes relentless phone snatching, motorcycle thefts, brutal house invasions, and the tragic murder of respected community leader, Industrialist, Amadu Kasiran, on June 8, 2025.

Blaming the escalating violent crimes on the APC Government, the PDP said, “These acts of violence, which continue to threaten our peace, are stark indicators of a Government that has forsaken its sacred constitutional duty.

“The Nigerian Constitution explicitly mandates that the Government shall protect the lives and property of its citizens. Any failure to uphold this obligation constitutes a breach of constitutional responsibilities, and in the eyes of the law, a dereliction of duty.

“The oath of office sworn by the Governor of Gombe State is a solemn pledge to uphold the constitution and serve the welfare of the people. Neglecting this oath and allowing violence to fester not only undermines the rule of law but could also be interpreted as a gross violation of the fundamental rights of our citizens particularly their right to life, security, and dignity”, the PDP alleged.

The PDP accused the APC Government of failing the people, asserting that, the leadership that fails in its constitutional and moral obligations risks legal repercussions, including potential acts of gross misconduct, abuse of office, or dereliction of duty charges that could lead to impeachment or other legal sanctions.

It counseled the APC Government that, Citizens have the right to demand accountability, warning that, any leadership that condones or neglects its primary duty to secure lives and property is liable to face both legal and political consequences.

It stressed that, “beyond the grave security lapses, the current Government’s indifference extends to the socio-economic devastation facing our youths and women left unemployed, disempowered, and vulnerable to gangs, drug abuse, and violence.

“Meanwhile, local contractors and small business owners who are the backbone of Gombe’s economy continue to be sidelined, fueling resentment and social unrest. The politicization of development efforts and the abdication of responsibility to empower grassroots communities only deepen the crisis”, the PDP pointed out.

The PDP also challenged Governor Inuwa Yahaya and his team to undertake a fundamental moral and leadership reappraisal saying, “We call on them to move beyond empty rhetoric, political bravado, and superficial media stunts.

“Leadership, by its very nature, demands humility, integrity, and a sincere commitment to service. We urge them to seek mentorship from the visionary former Governor, His Excellency Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, PhD, OON (Talban Gombe), whose legacy of prudent governance, integrity, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people remains a beacon of exemplary leadership”, it admonished.

“We emphasize that peace and security are not mere rhetorical slogans or superficial condemnations on social media. They require concrete, sustained actions strengthening law enforcement, disarming illegal weapons, dismantling drug trafficking networks, and fostering genuine community engagement.

“True leadership must demonstrate sincerity, political will, and moral courage. Empty rhetoric, staged media appearances, or mere condemnations are insufficient and will only deepen public disillusionment”, the PDP warned.

It then called on Governor Inuwa Yahaya to rise above divisive politics, seek moral guidance, and prioritize the safety, welfare, and development of the people, stressing that, “the future of Gombe depends on leaders who are willing to humble themselves, learn from history’s best, and serve with sincerity, and steadfast commitment to justice”.

End.
