The allowance, for graduate youths on mandatory national assignment otherwise known as National Youth Service Corp, has been increased from N19,800 to N33,000. This represents 68% increase on the old rate.

This announcement was made by the Director-General of the Corp, Brigadier –General Ibrahim Shuaibu, while on a working visit to the Bauchi State Secretariat of the Corp. He also said that the appropriate provision had been made in the 2020 budget to accommodate the new package.

This comes in fulfilment of an earlier promise about four months ago, when the Director-General said at the Iyana-Ipaja orientation camp “Your monthly allowance will be increased immediately the Federal Government starts the payment of the new minimum wage.”

Speaking to Sharpedgenews , some youth corpers who did not want their name in print said “it is good news, good gesture by the government which will go a long way in making life better for us” Like Oliver Twist they said “we pray for more incentives”.
