…Urges the Gov to Conduct Council Polls
A group, The Democratic Movement, has condemned the failure of Governor Abiola Ajimobi led
Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) administration in Oyo state to conduct election into all the 33 local government areas of the state.
The group in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Comrade Adesina Akinpelu, also “noted with dismay the conducts of Governor Ajimobi, especially, his disrespect for traditional institutions and elders in the state.”
The Democratic Movement particularly fawned at the way and manner Governor Ajimobi publicly subjected the Aseyin of Iseyinland, former Governors Victor Omololu Olunloyo, Rashidi Ladoja, Adebayo Alao-Akala, the Chief Judge of the state and the Are Musulumi of Yorubaland, Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao, to ridicle during the commissioning of the Mokola, Ibadan Fly-Over recently.
The group expressed worry over the way Governor Ajimobi and his wife are running the affairs of the state as their family business empire, noting that the Ajimobis have turned democracy into “the government of the family, by family members and for the benefits of the family only.”
On the failure of the Governor to conduct council election in the last two years, the group lamented that the situation has continued to give Ajimobi the opportunity to dip his hand into the coffers of the 33 council areas of the state at will.
The Democratic Movement, therefore, challenged the Governor and the Caretaker Chairmen imposed on the Oyo councils to account for about N84billion allocation that the councils have collected in the last two years.
