AThe Uniccon Group of Companies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) to promote local content.
This is contained in a statement in Abuja on Friday and signed by the Chairman of Uniccon, Dr Chuks Ekwueme,
Elwueme said this when he paid a visit to the Nation’s defence industries office in Kaduna.
He said the purpose of the visit was to consolidate on previous meetings to explore further areas of collaboration and robust engagements in meeting material needs for the Nation’s defence industries complex.
According to him, the company and its subsidiaries are interested in driving local content in the area of defense technologies.
He noted that one of the group’s areas of specialty was bespoke technology in the areas of robotic technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), drones-unmanned and manned flying drones amongst others.
He said serving the country was a thing of joy and assured full support to DICON for a robust technological driven results.
He stated that Uniccon and its subsidiaries would produce a showcase for DICON at 60.
“We in Uniccon Group are very much interested in driving local content, which will help in the economic growth of the country.
“Service to the country is a good thing and we will as a group support your organisation for robust technological driven results.
“We will produce a showcase for DICON at 60,” he said.
In his remarks, the Director-General of DICON, Maj.Gen Aniedi Edet said a review of MOU’s had been ongoing in light of the new DICON Act.
Edet said the review would reduce redundancy among its partners and boost robust engagements to advance the mandate of the Corporation, adding that there is room for serious collaborations and partnerships.
He said that DICON would not hesitate to commit to beneficial partnerships and urged Uniccon to domesticate a prototype in a couple of months and mass production would take off following necessary approvals.
According to him, when UNICCON produces a prototype to showcase for DICON at 60, it will lead to mass production by DICON which will be unprecedented at its speedy progress.
