Health Care: Minister, TUC Boss Call for Stronger Ties Between Nigeria, Cuba

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and the President, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC),

Comrade Boboi Bala Kaigama, yesterday called for stronger ties between Nigeria and Cuba.
According to them, Nigeria and Cuba should work together in order to find solution to some of the healthcare challenges still besetting Nigeria, Africa and developing countries.
Onu, who made the remarks at the one year anniversary of the death of late leader of Cuba, Comrade Fidel Castro, organized by the Nigeria-Cuba friendship and cultural association in Abuja, said the time is now to forge stronger ties between the two nations.
He noted that the contribution of Cuba under the leadership of Fidel Castro through Science and Technology made the country to be a leading in the health sector and made Cuban doctors much sought after in the world.
Dr. Onu further hinted that Cuba has produced so many solutions to many diseases ravaging the world and also contributed and intervened in the liberation of many African countries citing the examples of Algeria, Angola etc.
“As we celebrate Fidel Castro, we celebrate all Cuban. His brother, Raul Castro is still threading the commendable path of his late brother” he added.
Dr. Onu who said Cuba was always there at time of need, commended the role Cuba played during outbreak of Ebola disease in the country.
In his opening remarks, the President of TUC, Kaigama, said that the Cuban revolution remain a reference point in Labour struggle, adding that the spirit of Fidel Castro will continue to nurture revolutions in Nigeria and Africa.
