I’ve Come to Get Kogi Back on the Part of Development

Abubakar Idris, Governorship Aspirant

A gubernatorial aspirant in the November, 2019 governorship election in Kogi state, Abubakar Idris promised

to harness the agricultural potential of the state to develop the state and take it out of poverty.

Abubakar Idris who is a graduate of agricultural science said if you take cashew for example, 140 dollars was earned frlm its export last year from the sale of the nut.

“Selling the nut doesn’t generate enough employment”, adding that if we can engage our people at every stage from “washing, sorting, grading and processing of cashew, it will generate more employment. Right now these stages are only done in Ghana for Nigerian cashew before export.
According to Abubakar, “if we can do all the dtages in Nigeria for all crops, you can imagine the multiplier effect in terms of employment generation and the many investors it will attract to Nigeria”.

Abubakar Idris said the main drive for his gubernatorial ambition is to get the state back on the part of sevelopment from the level of infrastructural decay and low morale of the citizens of the state now. “Today, everything in Kogi is low. Many people have committed suicide”, he said.
Another worrisome scenario in the state is rhe “arming of the youth” which Abubakar said if not arrested could be a time bomb.

The governorship aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and son of Ibrahim Idris, former governor of the state urged the people of the state to support him on the basis of his agenda and also see his being the son of former governor as an added advantage.
He however said his is “not a do or die affair since he knows it is only God that can give power tk who he likes.
