Dame Julie Donli, the Lady Captain of IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, has called for partnership between the Federal Ministry of Interior and the Ladies Golf Section (LGS).
Donli made the call on Thursday in Abuja, when she and members of the 2024/2025 IBB LGS Executive Committee went on a sponsorship drive/courtesy visit to the office of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
She called for joint-partnership between the IBB LGS and the Ministry of Interior on various levels such as the weekly Ladies Thursday kittys, corporate membership for ladies, sponsorships and tournaments.
She emphasised the benefits of the collaboration to include physical health, corporate publicity, networking, among others.
“We want to partner with your ministry as we are aware that there are lots of parastatals under the Ministry of Interior which carry out several crucial and essential duties.
“We are looking at creating awareness on some of your laudable reforms in all the parastatals under your watch such as; the Nigerian Correctional Service, Immigration, NSCDC, to mention a few.
“We are also looking at ways of creating opportunities for your parastatals to reach out and communicate with high networth and influential individuals who you can find easily at the IBB Golf Club,” she said.
She encouraged the minister to consider organising a special tournament for all the parastatals under the ministry.
Donli stressed that this would help keep the staff fit, mentally alert and increase productivity, while creating an identity and the much needed publicity for the ministry.
In his response , Tunji-Ojo appreciated the team for the visit and promised to consider the collaboration.
The minister asked for submission of further details outlining each area and the prayers of the IBB LGS.
“I welcome you and your team to the ministry of interior and I personally appreciate what you are doing.
“I also appreciate your level of organisation, which is very key and something you hardly find in this part of the world.
“I might not be a golfer, but I am a lover of golf because it is not about physical fitness, but also mental alertness and I am earnestly looking forward to becoming a member of the IBB Golf Club.
“I want to assure you of my cooperation, support and willingness to work with you,” he said.
The highlight of the visit was a nice fun session of golf putting perfomed by the minister and other senior officers of the ministry as well as a presentation of hole 18 made by the Lady Captain to the minister.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
