IGWESHI AUGUSTINE JOINS RISE UP TOGETHER ACCELERATOR TO ADVANCE GENDER JUSTICE

In recognition of his outstanding work in promoting gender justice, women’s empowerment, and inclusive development, Igweshi Augustine, Executive Director of the Centre for Peace Advocacy and Sustainable Development (CEPASD), has joined the prestigious Rise Up Together Leadership & Advocacy Accelerator Program.

The Rise Up Together Accelerator is a global initiative that identifies, trains, and supports frontline leaders advancing gender equity across communities. Participants receive intensive leadership and advocacy training, technical support, and access to a global network of gender justice champions.

The program has a strong record of influencing laws, policies, and social systems that expand opportunities for girls, women, and gender-diverse groups around the world.

Augustine’s participation in the RISE UP TOGETHER PROBLEM reflects his consistent leadership in championing women’s economic empowerment, gender-responsive programing, and youth advocacy across Nigeria Under his leadership, CEPASD has implemented grassroots programs addressing educational inequality, promoting women’s participation in governance, and advancing gender-sensitive approaches to economic empowerment

According to Rise Up Together, candidates are chosen based on demonstrated impact, commitment to structural change, and the ability to drive policy-oriented advocacy. Augustine’s work in advocating for gender equity in education, health, and economic opportunities for women positioned him as a strong fit for this year’s cohort.

The Accelerator Program equips leaders with strategic advocacy tools, including policy mapping, messaging, stakeholder engagement, and project design. Participants also gain opportunities to apply for seed funding to implement or scale gender justice initiatives in their communities.

This milestone is expected to further strengthen CEPASD’s advocacy footprint and expand its gender justice programming nationwide. With Augustine now part of a global network of changemakers, Nigeria stands to benefit from greater collaboration, policy influence, and innovative solutions aimed at improving the lives of women and girls.
