Institute of health service Administrators holds 3-Days capacity workshop

The Institute of health service Administrators of Nigeria (IHSAN), has held a 3-Days professional development workshop and the council meeting of health service Administrators of Nigeria at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada, for the development of health service administration in the country.

During her remarks at the opening ceremony with the theme titled, “The Hospital of the Future” the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social services, Daju kachollom S. mni, tasked the professional body on genuine service delivery through dedication and selflessness.

Kachollom said government as part of efforts to improve quality of health service administration, planning and management in Nigeria founded the Institute of Health Sector Administrators with the aim to regulate health service Administration and ensure standards are maintained in the various health service institutions.

She said the workshop is a welcome development as it would chat a new path for the development of health administration in the country for development. 

According to her, health Administration is a complex challenge that involves addressing various systemic issues that requires commitment and dedication from all practitioners. 

“I implore you to continue to provide excellent services, quality administrative knowledge to all

members and increase the power to harness innovation and improve meaningful change health services for all.

“Health Administration is a complex challenge that involves addressing various systemic issues that requires commitment and dedication from all practitioners. 

“As healthcare Administrators, it is important that you embrace policies to enhance healthcare practices Administration in Nigeria for optimal performance which is our main goal. 

“The Government is concerned with ensuring responsible, inclusive, participatory and presentive decision making at all levels consistence in making decisions aimed at establishing public institutions,” she said. 

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Bissallah Ekele, who welcomed the IHSAN members to the workshop, said it would serve as a catalyst to reposition the health sector for the hospital of the future. 

Ekele, who was represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) Dr. Bob Ukonu, tasked the members to well equipped, focused and dedicated in discharging their duties for the development of the health sector. 

The CMD, however, called on the record keepers in the Teaching Hospital settings in the country to be properly looked into for accurate record keeping and other running cost in health institutions. 

Chairman Local Organization Committee and Director of Administration, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Mrs. Modupe Adebanjo, maintained that the workshop would groom seasoned hospital Administrators to recover health care delivery system, stressing that a modern hospital should provide comfortable aesthetically pleasing environment.

The three day capacity Building workshop at the university of Abuja teaching hospital further collated information on health service practice, health laws and issues of interest to members of the profession and the public at large. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng
