Institute of Project Managers: I remain authentic President, Chairman of governing council-Okworonkwo

Dr Victoria Okoronkwo, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria ( CIPMN) says, she remain the authentic and legal President of the Institute.

Okoronkwo made this know at a media conference with newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

This came after some of the members of the Institute, led by Dr. Jamilu Yankwashi organised an election which has been confirmed to be illegal.

“He then enthroned himself as President and Chairman, Governing Council of the Institute. This is absolutely illegal, null and void.

“”Yankwashi and his cohorts were contemptuous of a court judgement.

“The election was null and void. Less than 30 members cannot override the decision of the court and that of over 500 members of the Institute.

“The court judgement has directed that the parties should maintain status quo, thus, results of the purported elections remain invalid,”

“I am still the President and Chairman governing council of the Institute, whatever they have done is null and void”, Okoronkwo insisted.

According to reports, confusion and tension engulfed the CIPMN after it’s erstwhile Vice President, Dr. Jamilu Yankwashi was said to have conspired with some disgruntled members to snatch the Institute’s Board Chairmanship.

It was gathered that while the Institute was working to deepen its recognition by Federal, State Governments and private sector players, some of its members were ploting to destabilise it for their own selfish agenda.

Troubled ensued in Abuja, when some of the members of the Institute, led by Dr. Jamilu Yankwashi organised an election which has been confirmed to be illegal, and enthroned himself as President and Chairman, Governing Council of the Institute.
