Jonathan Commends Outgoing Thai Ambassador

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Monday in Abuja commended the outgoing Thai Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. ManopMekprayoonthong for his efforts to strengthen economic cooperation and bilateral trade between Thailand and Nigeria.

Speaking at a farewell audience with the Ambassador and his wife, President Jonathan expressed the hope that Mr. Mekprayoonthong’s successor will continue his good work by further expanding areas of cooperation between both countries.

The President urged the outgoing Ambassador who is retiring from his country’s Foreign Service after 35 years, to now consider himself a life-long ambassador of Nigeria to Thailand.

“You know us well and you know the great opportunities for investment that exist in our country. So continue to encourage Thai investors and businessmen to come here,” he told him.

Mr. Mekprayoonthong who facilitated the visit of several Thai business delegations to Nigeria during his tenure, thanked President Jonathan and the Federal Government for the excellent cooperation and support, which, he said, he had enjoyed.
