MEMBERS of the Kano State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria on Monday joined the nation-wide strike called by their national association.
The workers are protesting against the non-implementation of the Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure.
The workers barricaded the premises of the Federal High Court and the Industrial Arbitration Court situated along Court Road in the Kano metropolis.
Mr, Sulaiman Aliyu, the union’s Public Relations Officer said that the strike was necessitated by the non-implementation of the new salary structure.
He recalled that an agreement to implement the new salary structure was reached two years ago.
Aliyu insisted that the courts would remain closed indefinitely until the scheme was implemented.
Judiciary workers had earlier given the Federal Government a 21-day ultimatum to implement the new salary structure to avoid the industrial action.
